Odi Et Amo wins at Wingatui

30th June 2016

Odi Et Amo (Danger Looms x Frisky Dansker) backed up a solid last few runs today with a gutsy come from behind win to break maidens.

With 300m to go, there were only 2 horses in the race with the unlucky Dream Divine and Odi Et Amo showing the field how to handle the conditions. By the finish, there was only half a head seperating the two in a classic race to the line, however clear daylight and 6 1/2 lengths seperated them from the rest of the field.

Judging by his finish, it is expected he will appreciate even more ground than the mile covered today and look out next start!

Acquiesce resumes after spell.

30th June 2016

Acquiesce (Danger Looms x Our Sally) resumed today at Wingatui after a long spell away from the races and a change of trainers.

The gelding has not been seen since Jan 2014 when under the training of Matthew Eales at Awapuni and suffered an injury. Now trained locally at Wingatui by Gabrielle Campbell, he showed he still has something to offer with a competitive first up run over 1200m.

The lightly tried son of Danger Looms was only having his 7th raceday start and has one placing over the 1400m.

Fresh up Win for Bang at Woodville

21st April 2016

Bang (Danger Looms x Kilitristran) made it win number two when winning fresh up for trainer Jack Scott at Woodville on Thursday.

Usually looking for more ground, most punters suspected he would need this run back, but jockey Matt Cameron had other plans. Coming from well off the pace, Bang showed a great turn of foot and under the expert guidance of jockey Cameron, weaved his way through traffic before hitting the lead at the 100m and running away from them.

Cameron said after the race that Bang was looking to go around again and mentioned he had trouble pulling him up. Good signs for whe he steps up to his more favoured distances of 2000m+. Perhaps a cups campaign is on the cards ....

Solid 3rd for Odi Et Amo

14th April 2016

Odi Et Amo (Danger Looms x Frisky Dansker) stuck his hoof in the till for the first time on Thursday when running a solid third at the Wingatui Races.

Having showed plenty on the training track but yet to deliver on raceday, this was the first sign he had got it all together and good signs they were. Jumping to the front from the get go, he strode along in front and fought on well.

With 1200m always going to be a bit short, there were a couple of sprinters with a bit more spark this time, however watch out when he gets up over a bit more ground!

Foaling season begins ...

27th Sept 2015

Pauanui (Rusty Spur x Chrisarah) kicked off the foaling season for us last night, foaling down her Haradasun colt at 12:30am.

As a maiden mare, she is doing everything right and the colt is showing a healthy appetite and plenty of spunk already. Pauanui is the first of 11 foals expected this season here, and is also the only non Danger Looms foal we are expecting.

Next to go should be Bella Vino (Chianti x Twinklebelle) followed by Pentina and then Thalestris.

Bang wins at Wanganui...

2nd July 2015

The Jack Scott trained 5yo Danger Looms gelding out of Kilitristran was the most recent winner for his sire in the Highweight maiden race at Wanganui on Thursday. Bang, who changed stables to Scott recently after a long spell, showed that he was finding form with an excellent effort at Otaki on the 19/06 where in very trying condition, he fought hard on a very hravy track, running 3rd over the mile before the meeting was eventually abandoned.

Trainer Scott believed he would be looking for more ground as he has shown he is a staying type, so when lined up over 2060m at Wanganui, he appreciated the extra distance. Stuck 4 wide all the way, and then coming the widest down the outside rail, he covered more distance than any other in the race, and still gapped them by 1 1/2 lengths with a further length back to third.

Flagrante Delicto wins at Gore...

By winning at Gore Flagrante Delicto (Danger Looms x Cherry Tango) did more than just break maiden ranks, he became the first new winner for Danger Looms since his change of ownership.

Jumping well, he settled into third and in conjuntion with the leading 2 horses, they put a gap on the field. Not much changed for the remainder of the race with the exception of the order. On the turn, Flagrante Delicto ranged up and was the only horse to be on. Eventually winning by just under 2 lengths under a hands a heals ride by jockey Rebecca Black. An impressive breakthrough win, with signs there will be plenty more where that came from. Next up assignment (track conditions permitting) will be Southland on 4th Feb over 1400.

Yards completed and ready to go...

Next on the building agenda was a couple of yards so we can commence work with the weanlings and yearlings. 3 days to complete from the start and we are very happy with the result. Even started to put together the beginnings of a loading bay next to the yards for "deliveries"

Next on the list of construction projects is to fence off a large section up near the house which will be used as our foaling paddocks for the upcoming foaling season. From the area sectioned off, we should get two or perhaps three smaller paddocks we can use for this purpose.

Danger Looms Arrives

With the completion of the stallion paddocks, all that was left was for the big fella to arrive and take up residence. The majestics truck with Phil aboard dutifully turned up Tues 24/02 and delivered our long awaited cargo. Welcome home Mouse!

Stallion Paddocks Complete

With the mare and foal paddocks close to completion, it was time to turn the attention towards getting the stallion paddocks ready for Danger Looms. Splitting one large paddock into two, Danger Looms will occupy the larger of the two, with the smaller paddock perfect for geldings or colts.

Also being fenced at this stage is the stabling area just off the big paddock which will serve as his night accomadation during winter and day yard for the farrier, wash bay etc.
